FOOD FOR THOUGHT

To fund our work at Key4Life, we developed a burger business: The Food Cell. Yes, you read that right. Using ex-prison vans, we’re bringing burgers to the people. It’s run and managed by our young programme participants, providing them with invaluable training and developing customer service and business skills. We started with one van and have now added a second – who knows where this venture will take us next!

IN TRIBUTE TO A REMARKABLE YOUNG MAN: JACK WINTER

Jack Winter was diagnosed with a terminal cancer at just 18 and he died a year later.

In his memory the ‘Jack Winter’s Leg Up Legacy’ was created – a charity fund supported by his friends and family. Together they raised enough money to help us buy and kit a second Food Cell van. This is a fitting legacy for a young entrepreneur and lover of burgers, parties and festivals. It is also a legacy that captures Jack’s fighting spirit, giving the young men in our programme a much-needed leg up. From all of us at Key4Life, thank you Jack.

BURGERS WITH A STORY

Our Food Cell offers the tastiest burgers yet. We only use the finest, individually sourced Somerset ingredients: freshly minced beef, tangy cheddar cheese, sweet brioche buns, specially adapted relishes and freshly made chips. While you’re wolfing down your burger, our custom illustrated wrappers give you an insight into our young men’s journeys, showing how they turned their lives around.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

Our burger names are based on the privileges offenders are given in prison, but of course we also offer a ‘Jack’s favourite’. You can also add your specially designed burger to our menu, to fit your particular event, this includes cakes and drinks.
